Wildflower Wisdoms™ Living ME *wisdom*laughter*beauty*community for the resilient you
Wild Ones, take a breath. Today’s lesson is about boundaries—deep, unshakable, rooted boundaries.
Long ago, Mystic Mo spoke of the magic in the wild things—the whispers of the wind, the bloom of the unexpected, the way a flower chooses the right moment to unfurl.
But what happens when the wild is not a dance of freedom but a storm of nonsense, a creeping vine that threatens to choke out your peace?
Enter: Xylosma.
🌿 The Xylosma Lesson: Boundaries Rooted in Survival
Xylosma doesn’t just exist—it claims space. It creates natural, living hedges that stand between what belongs and what doesn’t.
✨ It does not ask permission.
✨ It does not explain itself.
✨ It does not shrink.
Instead, it grows with quiet certainty, strong in its purpose, unwavering in its presence.
And so must you.
Because a woman who has survived the extremes—of illness, of exhaustion, of energy-draining demands—does not build fragile fences. She builds Xylosma hedges.
🌿 So How Does a Gal Stay Mystically Centered and Focused on Her Flowers?
🛑 By making peace with the fact that not everyone gets access to your garden.
🌱 By knowing that boundaries aren’t walls—they’re wisdom made visible.
✨ By remembering that your energy is sacred, and you don’t owe anyone an explanation for protecting it.
🌿 Texas-Sized Xylosma Hedges: What Does This Mean?
🌵 It means your boundaries are built for real protection—not just decoration.
🌵 It means you hold your space with the quiet power of something that thrives in its own time, its own way.
🌵 It means you no longer entertain nonsense, not because you’re unkind, but because you respect your own energy too much to waste it.
🌿 Here’s an Example…
Imagine you’re at a gathering, and someone—well-meaning but clueless—tries to tell you how you should manage your illness, your stress, your life.
Old You: Might have felt the need to justify, to explain, to defend.
Xylosma You: Sips her tea and says, “Oh, I let people be wrong in peace these days.”
✨ The conversation? Over.
✨ Your peace? Untouched.
✨ The hedge? High and healthy.
🌿 Final Wildflower Wisdom
🌿 Your soul is the soil. Keep it fertile.
🌿 Your peace is the garden. Protect it.
🌿 Your boundaries are the hedge. Let them grow.
✨ Xylosma that b*tch, wild ones. And keep your flowers blooming. 😌

✨ No pide permiso.
✨ Xylosma a esa p*ta, salvajes. Y sigan floreciendo. 😌

🌿 Sagesse finale
🌿 Ton âme est le sol. Garde-le fertile.
🌿 Ta paix est le jardin. Protège-le.
🌿 Tes limites sont la haie. Laisse-les grandir.
✨ Xylosma cette s*lope, sauvages. Et continuez à fleurir. 😌

Some bloom with the sunrise, others unfurl in the golden hush of afternoon, and some wait for the moon to cast her glow before they reveal their beauty. Morning glories, four o’clocks, and moonflowers—three flowers with strikingly similar shapes, yet each with its own perfect rhythm.
So too are we, the wild ones living with Energy-Limiting Chronic Illnesses (ELCIs)—ME/CFS, Long COVID, dysautonomia, fibromyalgia, and so many others that shape our days and nights in ways the world doesn’t always see. Some of us awaken early with a short burst of energy before fading by noon. Others don’t find our strength until the afternoon or even the quiet of night. None of us bloom “wrong.” Like these flowers, we bloom when we are meant to, in the time that is ours.
If I had a trellis of resilience and wisdom at the entrance to my garden, it would be lined with these flowers—keeping watch over the wild beauty, offering their scent at different hours, yet together creating an unmatched experience. Their vines would whisper a gentle welcome:
"You are not out of sync. You are not out of place. You are part of a greater rhythm. Welcome to the Wildflower Wisdoms™ garden. Welcome to a new way of Living ME—My Energy, My Essence."

Mystic Mo’s New Year Message: The Hellebore’s Whisper
“Ah, dear Wild Ones, let me introduce you to the hellebore, a flower of quiet brilliance. Blooming in the heart of winter, it does not cry out for attention—it simply offers its beauty to the frost-kissed world, reminding us that even in the coldest seasons, fruition is possible.
Legend has it, the hellebore sprang from a shepherdess’s tears, her love and effort transforming barren soil into a gift of delicate blooms. And like her, we too find ourselves offering beauty born of challenges. For every plan that faltered, every obstacle that slowed us, there was an unseen root pushing deeper, a stem reaching higher.
This past season, I’ve seen you, my magic ones, producing life’s blooms in unlikely conditions. Perhaps, like me, you’ve felt the chill of disappointment or the weight of effort unacknowledged. But still, you persisted. You created. You flourished.
Let the hellebore remind us that what we create in winter—what we nurture when the days are dark and long—is no less miraculous than what bursts forth in spring. You, my fierce flowers, have proven this truth. Your life itself is a hellebore, a whisper of beauty that defies the frost.
Here’s to a year not of beginnings, but of ripened fruition. May your blooms continue to unfold, wild and wondrous, exactly as they are meant to be.”
Mystic Mo's Musings: A Season of Unexpected Blossoms
There’s a flower that hides in plain sight—nothing about it screams for attention during the seasons of abundance. Instead, it quietly gathers its reserves, storing water in its succulent leaves and guarding itself with spikes that seem to say, “Come closer at your own risk.” It thrives in shadows, in the harshest conditions, and waits.
When the world grows quieter, when other flowers have retreated into the earth, this unassuming bloom performs its miracle. Its colorful flowers appear like a promise kept. The Christmas cactus reminds us that beauty and joy often arise not in spite of adversity but because of it.
For those of us walking through seasons of challenge—whether it’s headaches, nausea, or the relentless pacing of chronic illness—it’s easy to feel like every step forward meets a harder road. Yet here you are, a testament to resilience, nearing the culmination of your work, like a cactus poised to bloom.
Let this be a secret message to us, the faithful few: Life doesn’t always exempt us from the harder path, but neither does it forget us. We are wild blooms, enduring. We are reservoirs of quiet strength. And when it seems least likely, we, too, will blossom.
To those who’ve been quietly waiting, like a cactus in the shadows, there’s a secret worth holding close: the bloom is near. Keep an eye out, dear ones—you just might find your patience rewarded in ways that last longer than a season.
✨✨✨✨✨✨

Mystic Mo's Flower Wisdom
"Ceibo’s Call: Honor the Wisdom of the Seasons Within"
"Wild one, as the rush of the holidays sweeps through like the winds, remember to pause and be like the ceibo. This fiery blossom, Argentina’s national flower, knows when to rest and when to bloom. After shedding its leaves, it waits for the rains to replenish its roots, trusting the timing of the seasons.
Today, take a moment to honor your own rhythms. Rest is not retreat; it’s renewal. Like the ceibo, you are gathering strength. In the stillness, vitality returns, preparing you for the days ahead.
The ceibo reminds you: ‘Each pause is its own kind of bloom.’ So let the winds swirl around you as they may. Stay rooted, breathe deeply, and trust the wisdom of your wild heart."

Mystic Mo’s Weekly Flower Reading: White Flannel Flower
This week, as I continue to navigate the delicate balance of life’s joys and sorrows, the White Flannel Flower has come to mind. Its soft petals, like flannel fabric, remind me of moments spent cocooned in warmth—a flannel blanket wrapped around me, tea in hand, soup simmering nearby, and the meditative rhythm of crocheting a baby blanket for my newborn wildflower niece. These moments of coziness are punctuated by soft tears as I remember and release the loved ones who have, as I like to say, shaken off their earth bodies and now bloom in the garden of memory.
The White Flannel Flower, with its star-shaped petals and velvety texture, is a symbol of gentleness, healing, and the resilience that comes from honoring both joy and grief. In Indigenous Australian folklore, it represents emotional openness and the capacity to hold space for ourselves and others during times of transition. Like the flower, which thrives in tough and sandy soils, we too can find beauty and strength in the challenging landscapes of life.
This flower also carries a message of nurturing—both for those we love and for ourselves. In Australian flower essence therapy, the White Flannel Flower is used to encourage self-acceptance and emotional balance. Its presence invites us to be gentle with ourselves, to rest and reflect, and to offer the same tenderness to others. Aromatherapy often pairs the flower’s essence with calming rituals, encouraging the release of tension and a reconnection to inner peace.
In these moments of reflection, I am reminded of the importance of pacing myself. Rest is not only a necessity but a way of honoring the long haul of life—so that I can show up fully for the people I love while also loving myself enough to ensure I remain well. This hasn’t been easy; fighting off a cold that refuses to leave has only reinforced how crucial it is to prioritize rest and recovery.
This week, I invite you to join me in drawing inspiration from the White Flannel Flower. Whether it’s cuddling under a blanket with a comforting tea, journaling about a cherished memory, or simply letting yourself be—soft and present—this flower reminds us that gentleness is its own kind of strength.
Take a moment to pause, reflect, and honor both what has been lost and what is blossoming anew. Like the soft star of the White Flannel Flower, you too can shine in the quiet moments, finding peace in the balance of remembering and renewing.

Ah, fierce flowers, let’s unfurl this poppy magic together! 🌼 Mystic Mo sees you, sparkly one minute and flopping into a heap of petals the next. And you know what? That’s not just okay—it’s the perfect dance of life for a poppy, and for you.
(Flourish, Flop, Repeat)
Here’s what Mystic Mo has to say this week:
You, my wild ones, are a poppy personified. Flashy and full of flair when the moment strikes, but just as magnificent when you let your petals fall and recharge. Whether it’s twinkling at the holiday dinner table or napping through dessert, your rhythm is your magic.
A Little Poppy Wisdom for the Week:
Sprinkle Some Poppy Facts Into Conversation:
Mystic Mo’s Mantra:
"I am a poppy, bold in bloom and soft in surrender. I flourish when the light is bright, and I rest when the moment is right."
Remember, wild ones, whether you sparkle or snooze this week, you’re perfect just as you are. So sprinkle your magic, let your seeds fall where they may, and know that even in your quiet moments, you’re still blooming. 🌼✨
(Florece, Flop, Repite)
Vitality from the Dried & True:
This week, we delve into the rich crimson depths of the roselle hibiscus, also known as the edible hibiscus, beloved for its tart, tangy flavor that transforms into the refreshing sorrel tea we sip hot or iced. Known to many as a symbol of vitality and celebration, the hibiscus is steeped in cultural traditions and folklore. In the Caribbean, it’s a staple of festive gatherings, while other cultures see it as a flower of love and passion.
The roselle is more than just a pretty bloom. Science shows it’s rich in antioxidants, with studies suggesting it may support heart health, reduce blood pressure, and even aid digestion. A cup of hibiscus tea, therefore, offers not only comfort but wellness—a soothing ritual for body and soul.
This versatile flower is also making its culinary debut in the Fall issue of Living ME, where Nikki Nightshade stirs up something special using this edible treasure.
It's interesting to note that it's the dried flower that produces the rich color and flavor that graces these culinary delights. This reminds us that it's quite often the tried (or should we say dried) and true that we ought to rely on as we navigate lower energy days While other readers of nature's wisdom are currently focusing on things like Mercury Retrograde, I believe that there is wisdom in return and reflection. Taking the time to pause and review recent months and assessing what you are ready to discard and what you now know holds true is very similar to drying out flowers for use in tea, taking notes which pieces to discard, which parts are seeds for cultivating a new harvest and which are ready to be used for nurturing your physical vitality.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Hibiscus Sauvage :

LAVENDER 🪻 LESSONS:
The calm in chaos, the healer in bloom.
Hello, Wildflower Friend,
This week, let’s wander into the tranquil embrace of lavender. Often seen swaying gently in a summer breeze, this humble yet powerful bloom carries more than just its soothing scent—it carries the essence of healing, calm, and clarity.
Lavender teaches us that even amidst the chaos, we can find pockets of serenity. It whispers to our overworked minds and tired bodies, urging us to rest, to heal, and to simply be. Much like our own journeys with chronic illness, lavender doesn’t demand perfection. It thrives in unexpected places—on rocky hillsides, under relentless sun, and in forgotten corners—reminding us that beauty and resilience coexist.
In the language of flowers, lavender symbolizes devotion and purity. It’s the quiet strength that supports us when we feel fractured, the clarity that blooms when we pause to breathe. It’s no wonder this flower has long been a healer’s companion, both physically and spiritually.
A Connection to Community
Lavender also draws pollinators—bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds flock to its calming hues. In this, it mirrors the connections we foster in our own communities. Sometimes, we are the lavender, offering our calm to others. Other times, we are the weary bee, seeking solace in the steady support of those around us.
Let lavender be your guide this week. Whether you brew a lavender tea, place a sachet by your pillow, or simply close your eyes and imagine a field of purple, take a moment to embrace its peace. Remember, healing often begins with rest, and strength grows in stillness.
---
Cultivating Lavender
Lavender loves the sun and well-drained soil. It’s a perennial in warmer zones and a cheerful seasonal guest in cooler climates. If you’re new to gardening, start with a small pot—it’s forgiving and will reward you with its signature scent.
---
This week, let’s honor the lavender within us—gentle, enduring, and ever-giving. If you find your moment of calm with lavender, write to me with the subject line *Mystic Mo Flow* at LivingME@wildflowerwisdoms.com and share your story. Together, let’s rejoice in the healing power of this beloved flower.
With tranquility,
Mystic Mo

Mystic Mo

✨New England Aster: A Season of Gentle Kindness✨
As the days grow shorter and a bit colder on my side of the world, I’m feeling the season change not just in the air, but in my energy. Lately, I’ve been moving a little more slowly, needing a bit more help with the small things. It’s reminded me of how, as the light fades, we each become a little more aware of the starlight within one another—the warmth and kindness that keeps us going, especially when our own energy dims.
The New England Aster, one of the last wildflowers to bloom before winter, feels like a fitting reminder for us right now. According to old stories, it grew from the tears of Astraea, the goddess who mourned the lost starlight. I think of that as a metaphor for how we, too, can miss the fullness of life we once had. But like the aster blooming defiantly against the chill, we find beauty and resilience in each other. We’ve come so far, together.
As our personal starlights flicker and we face our own struggles, this season feels like a time to choose kindness. For those of us with chronic illness, and for our loved ones who understand our journeys, sometimes it’s the small gestures that mean the most. A friend who stops by with groceries. A family member who takes out the trash. Someone who offers to bring over a few premade meals or drops off a case of water.
We’re each other’s starlight—lifting each other up with these little acts of care. We don’t always have to understand one another’s experience fully to be kind. As we head deeper into this season, let’s remember that we’re in this together. Our kindness, our thoughtfulness, and our ability to reach out with understanding are the lights we can share, even when we’re feeling low ourselves.
Let’s hold onto that starlight, the light we create together. It’s what will carry us through as we wait for spring to come again.
Love & Light,
Mystic Mo💖
**Mystic Mo’s Flower Wisdom: Marigolds**
Hello, my lovely Wildflower Friends,
This week, let’s bask in the golden glow of marigolds, those vibrant garden guardians that refuse to go unnoticed. With their sunny disposition, marigolds remind us that even in the midst of fall blues, there’s always a splash of brightness waiting to lift our spirits.
Marigolds are more than just a pretty face. Known as the “herb of the sun,” these cheerful flowers bring a message of resilience and warmth. They can withstand the toughest of conditions, blooming fiercely through hot summers and autumn chills alike. In the language of flowers, marigolds symbolize determination, creativity, and the joy of simple pleasures.
Here’s a little-known tidbit to brighten your day: In Mexican culture, marigolds are called “cempasúchil” and are an essential part of Day of the Dead celebrations. These flowers are believed to guide the spirits back to the living world with their vibrant colors and strong scent. They’re like nature’s little beacons, lighting the way with their cheerful petals.
Feeling down? Let marigolds teach us a thing or two about resilience. Just like these flowers repel garden pests, we can learn to protect ourselves from life’s little nuisances. Imagine marigolds standing tall, flaunting their sunny blooms as if to say, “Bring it on, world!”
As the great naturalist John Muir once said, “The power of imagination makes us infinite.” So, when life gets a bit heavy, channel your inner marigold. Stand tall, bloom brightly, and let your light shine, no matter the season.
Whether you’re in the northern hemisphere feeling the chill of fall, or in the southern hemisphere enjoying spring’s embrace, marigolds can remind us all to find joy in the little things, to be bold in our beauty, and to never stop blooming.
Until next time, keep blooming, keep smiling, and let those marigolds light your way.
Love and Light

Hello, Wild Ones!
This week, we turn to the water lily—a flower that blooms with quiet resilience, rising from the still waters to reveal its beauty. Like the water lily, which grows strong and pure despite its roots in muddy depths, we, too, can find strength in challenging times. Its petals symbolize calm, patience, and unity, reminding us that even in murky waters, we can rise with grace.
I’m also honored to share that I’ve co-signed the *Infection-Associated Chronic Conditions Initiative (IACCI)* alongside many others who work tirelessly to support those with ME/CFS, Long COVID, and related chronic conditions. I am one of many voices, part of a powerful community that values unity and shared support. For more about IACCI’s mission, you can visit https://www.iaccinitiative.org
Let’s draw inspiration from the water lily’s gentle power, creating a peaceful, supportive network within our community. As Joyce Meyer beautifully puts it, *“Patience is not simply the ability to wait—it’s how we behave while we’re waiting.”*
With love, laughter, and the spirit to rise together,
*Mystic Mo💞
Hello My Resilient Rebels
---
**Mystic Mo: The Sunflower**
This week, we turn our gaze toward the magnificent sunflower—a symbol of resilience, warmth, and support. The sunflower, with its tall and sturdy stem, has long represented strength and loyalty, always turning its face toward the sun. In my wildflower garden, the sunflower stands as a reminder of the nurturing process, much like the support systems we build in our own lives when facing challenges, visible and unseen.
For those of us navigating life with invisible disabilities, the sunflower has taken on an additional role of support through the sunflower lanyard program. Widely recognized at airports, bus stations, and public venues, this lanyard signals the need for extra assistance, whether it’s wheelchair service, seating help, or simply a bit of patience as we move through crowded spaces. I’ve personally worn the sunflower lanyard while traveling, and the care and consideration it brings from staff and fellow travelers alike remind me of how important these small gestures are. Much like pollinators distributing sunflower seeds, this lanyard spreads awareness of our needs in subtle yet impactful ways, helping to cultivate a kinder, more inclusive world.
In the garden, sunflowers can be just as generous. I’ve been particularly enchanted by perennial pink sunflowers, which bring a softer, unexpected hue to the typical golden blooms. They add diversity and beauty to any landscape while also nourishing the soil and providing food for pollinators. These flowers are not just ornamental—they are part of the cycle of regeneration, healing the earth much like we heal ourselves.
With Love and Wild Wisdom,
Mystic Mo 🧘🏽♀️💖
Greetings Wildflower,
As I reflect this week on the simple, grounding tasks we engage in daily, I’m reminded of how powerful those small actions are. They may seem insignificant, but they are the foundation upon which we build our lives. This brings me to the Danish concept of hygge (pronounced as “HOO-guh”)—a way of finding joy, peace, and contentment in life’s simple moments. It’s about creating a space, both physically and mentally, where comfort and ease can flourish.
“For the present is the point at which time touches eternity.” – C.S. Lewis
This quote speaks to how every small action we take in the present moment, no matter how minor it seems, is part of something larger, something timeless. In tending to these everyday details, we connect to a bigger design—both in our own lives and in the world around us.
I recently planted micro clover in my garden, a modern take on the classic clover. Though it may be a more recent creation, its presence in my garden reminds me that even the smallest plants play a vital role. Micro clover is not just ground cover—it nurtures the soil, supports life, and creates a living carpet that connects me to my little oasis. In the same way, the small details we tend to in life—whether it’s sending a kind word, making a cup of tea, or simply registering to vote—are essential elements that nurture the larger landscape of our lives.
In the words of designer, architect & filmmaker Charles, Eames, “The details are not the details. They make the design.” Like micro clover, these small, consistent actions are what allow the tall trees to grow, the flowers to bloom, and the larger plans of life to unfold. It’s through the steady, mindful tending of life’s details that we create something greater—a life that is rich, meaningful, and designed with intention.
This week, I encourage you to embrace the hygge moments, the grounding actions that seem small but are foundational to your well-being. Because when you tend to these details, you’re not just checking off tasks—you’re tending to the treasure that is your life, shaping it with care and intention.
Tell us about the little things you did this week that make your life more nourishing? Did you hydrate well, take some time away from social media, or send a friend a sweet note? We'd love to share with other wildflowers like yourself how these words of wisdom are impacting your week. Write us at
LivingME@wildflowerwisdoms.com. Your stories and feedback are what make our community so special.
As they say it one small, Caribbean island I love and know well, "Lots of little bits is still a lot."
With wild love and wisdom,
Mystic Mo 💖🔮💐🌺
Hello, beautiful souls of the wild,
This week, let’s explore the profound symbolism of a flower bouquet and how it can teach us about the strength found in community. Just as a single flower can brighten a room, a bouquet—an assembly of diverse blooms—can transform a space into a vibrant tapestry of colors, scents, and textures. Each flower contributes its unique beauty, creating a harmonious whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.
In our journey with energy-limiting chronic illnesses, we often find ourselves feeling isolated, much like a lone flower in a vast field. But when we come together, sharing our stories, support, and love, we create a bouquet of resilience and hope. This collective strength is what sustains us, reminding us that we are never truly alone.
Consider the sunflower, with its unwavering gaze towards the sun, symbolizing loyalty and adoration. When paired with the gladiolus, representing courage and strength in the face of adversity, and the delicate yet hardy orchid, a symbol of resilience, we see a powerful message: together, we can face any challenge.
The dandelion, which we’ve discussed before, also finds its place in this bouquet. Its tenacity and adaptability remind us to bloom where we are planted, even in the most unexpected places. The marigold, with its vibrant hues, symbolizes warmth and creativity, encouraging us to bring light and joy to our community.
As we gather these flowers into a bouquet, we create a visual representation of our collective strength. Each flower, with its unique meaning, contributes to a story of unity and healing. This bouquet becomes a symbol of our shared journey, a testament to the power of community over isolation.
This week, I want to share a personal story. Behind the scenes, a few friends of Living ME magazine volunteered their time and talents. Without their generous support, we wouldn’t be able to create some of the free bonus items we will be offering to our community. Their contributions remind me of the beauty and strength we find in coming together.
I invite you to think of yourself as part of this beautiful bouquet. Reach out to others, share your experiences, and draw strength from the collective energy of our community. Together, we can create a garden of support and understanding, where each of us can thrive.
We’d love to hear from you! Please send your letters to the editor to LivingME@wildflowerwisdoms.com. Your stories and feedback are what make our community so special.
Remember, my lovelies, like the flowers in our bouquet, we are stronger together. Let’s nourish each other, spread seeds of kindness, and let our collective spirit bloom.
With wild love and wisdom,
Mystic Mo 💖🔮💐🌺
Canary, Hedgehog, Bear: Time to Rest, Heal & Reveal
Hello, my wonderful collective! I hope you’re enjoying working with the guiding energies of our animal guides.
This journey is becoming both exciting and profound! While people in our lives may sometimes brush us off, we have the steady presence of the bear, hedgehog, and canary energies surrounding us this week. They’re staying with us, guiding us to integrate their unique lessons as we prepare for the next steps on our path.
The bear steps in with her loving energy, embracing us in a nurturing yet stern hug. She’s urging us to rest as much as possible this week because she senses travel or adventure on the horizon. But she reminds us that meditation and daydreaming can also be forms of adventure and rest for our minds. She’s saying: stop beating yourself up over things you can’t control.
We can’t control everything in life, and sometimes we can’t control our symptoms—but we can control our thoughts.
As I connect with the bear’s motherly energy, my grandmother in spirit pops in with a knowing smile, saying, “I’ve been telling you this for years, and now you finally understand when a bear tells you!” She’s quirky and laughing.
I had a conversation with a few members of ME International this week about stress. A wise woman told me, “We can’t heal when we’re stressed.” That really resonated with me.
This is where the hedgehog and canary energies come back into play. Let’s continue protecting our energy (hedgehog) and bringing joy and relaxation into our space (canary).
I’ve been pondering their message, and it’s clear we need to declutter our minds.
The canary guide reminds us of the slow life—cups of warm herbal tea by a rainy window, a little time journaling. Some of us may even have the pleasure of some wonderful company this week, perhaps a visit from people from the past. But our hedgehog guide warns us to curl up in our protective ball and stick to our boundaries when socializing, whether in person or during a Zoom chat in ME I Chat.
I wish you all the best of luck. Monique and I would absolutely love to hear how you’re doing and whether our animal guides have made a difference in your journey within our chronically ill collective.
Lots of love,
Kayla
Carefree, Comfort & Comfrey
Greetings, Wildflower Friends!
This week, the gentle and resilient comfrey plant graces our journey with its deep-rooted wisdom and healing presence. In many parts of the Caribbean, it is known as “knitbone” for its remarkable ability to mend and restore. Comfrey invites us to consider the places within ourselves that may need gentle, steady care.
Comfrey teaches us the value of slow, patient healing. Its roots go deep, drawing nourishment from hidden places and sharing it with the soil around where it grows. Just as comfrey nurtures the earth, it encourages us to nourish our own foundations, to tend to the wounds—both seen and unseen—that need time and quiet attention to mend.
My grandmother, Mary, was a gifted herbalist, but unlike Kayla's grandmother, mine was far more serious in her ways. I remember her using comfrey in her healing blends. She was always ready with a verbal scolding for us running a little too wild, all while trying to mask a smile as she applied her healing balms to the inevitable scrapes and bruises we earned in our playful abandon. There was a sense of peace in her touch, because we knew that she loved to watch us play as much as she loved to soothe us in her way. And the cool, earthy scent of comfrey lingered, reminding us to be mindful of the dangers that can arise even in play.
Like its lasting fragrance, comfrey reminds us that healing is not always swift or immediate. Sometimes, it’s a process of sinking our roots deep, of drawing strength from the earth, and letting time work its quiet magic. Just as comfrey enriches the soil, we too can find ways to enrich our lives, even in the midst of pain or challenge. This week, consider what parts of your life may need that slow, gentle restoration. Where can you let go of urgency and simply allow healing to happen?
🌿
Guidance from Comfrey:
A Reminder for the Journey: Comfrey’s message is one of resilience, of knowing that healing comes in its own time, in its own way. Like the soil it mends, we too can find strength in stillness, letting go of the rush and embracing the slow, steady work of restoration.
With love and healing energy,
Mystic Mo 🌿
Dear Radiant Wild Ones,
This week, the Cholla Cactus comes to us with its wild, resilient blooms, carrying a message of beauty in the face of harshness and strength in collaboration. The Cholla, with its tough exterior and vibrant flowers, reminds us that even in the most challenging landscapes, we can create moments of stunning beauty—and we don't have to do it alone.
Just as the Cholla stands tall in the desert, surrounded by companions like the desert marigold and penstemon, we too are surrounded by friends and allies. These companions help us stand firm and bright, even when our energy feels depleted or our spirits feel prickly. This week, the Cholla guides us to recognize the power of cooperation—leaning on one another, finding strength in each other’s support, and knowing that it's okay to protect our boundaries.
When we collaborate with others who understand our needs, we create a unique ecosystem of care, resilience, and flourishing. Our allies—those who understand our rhythms, our moments of retreat, and our bursts of bloom—are like wildflower companions in our life's desert. Together, we can nurture more bounty and beauty, even in what seems like barren soil.
Allow yourself to reach out this week, to lean into the kindness of those who respect your boundaries. Share your dreams, your struggles, and your joys. Let others help guard your energy as fiercely as the Cholla guards its delicate blooms. And in return, offer your own presence, your own understanding, and your own blooms of kindness.
The Cholla tells us that there is strength in community, in the gathering of kindreds who know the value of stillness and the need for vibrancy. Together, we can create a garden that is more alive, more beautiful, and more whole.
Wishing you a week of blooming in your truth and resting in the strength of your community,
With Desert Bloom Blessings,
Mystic Mo
Hello, Wildflower Friends,
This week, I felt the presence of both the hedgehog and the canary guiding us. These gentle, yet powerful creatures are here to remind us of important lessons as we navigate the wilds of living with chronic illness.
Hedgehog Wisdom: Protecting Our Peace
The hedgehog appeared to me at a moment when I was feeling overwhelmed—out on my weekly errands, managing my energy and mood swings, just as many of us do. A simple encounter with a fellow traveler—a woman who looked as weary as I felt—reminded me of the quiet strength we share. In that brief exchange, I felt a connection, a sense of community in our shared experience.
Seeing a hedgehog later that day felt like a sign. This little creature, with its spiky exterior, teaches us that it's okay to be a bit "spiky" ourselves when we're protecting our peace. We might feel the need to curl up and retreat, and that's perfectly alright. We’ve crafted lives that work for us, carefully choosing what supports our needs. That's something to be proud of.
This week, let’s take a moment to reflect on how we can add more gentleness and simplicity to our lives. Maybe it’s a corner of your home that needs a little more comfort, or a ritual that brings you calm. I’ve created a cozy space with music and light reads—like my favorite book about unicorns that I read by a gentle light.
Canary Joy: Creating Together
Then there's the canary, bringing in bright, chirpy energy. The canary encourages us to find joy in creating our inner worlds, making space for relaxation and fun. This week, let’s share our favorite ways to relax and recharge.
What are the small joys that bring you peace? I’d love to hear from you! Send your thoughts to contact@wildflowerwisdoms.com, and we’ll share some of the beautiful ideas from our wildflower community.
While I couldn't attend a friend's celebration this weekend to protect my health—an example of my own "hedgehog moment"—I’m finding joy in the small things that nourish me: music, warm blankets, my cats curled up beside me. The canary is here to remind us that there’s beauty in these moments too, and there’s always a way to connect and celebrate, even from afar.
Wishing you all a restful and joy-filled week ahead. Let’s keep blooming together!
With love and light,
Kayla
Hello, my wonderfully brave community! I hope last week's journey with our mothering bear guide brought you moments of comfort, strength, and connection. As we move into this new week, I'm feeling the bear’s energy still lingering, supporting us as we continue forward. She seems to be a steadfast companion for our community—a constant presence of protection and care.
This week, as I tuned in to connect with our next guiding animal, I felt the bear still hovering gently, but then a new energy fluttered in. It's the Cabbage Butterfly! The arrival of this gentle, fluttering guide feels like a burst of lightness and good news. A sense of upliftment is on its way—something we can all welcome with open arms.
The cabbage butterfly holds a special place in my heart because it reminds me of my father, who taught me about nature from a young age. We would explore together, learning the names of plants and searching for wildlife. One of the first butterflies he taught me about was the cabbage butterfly, and to this day, I remember them gliding like silk through the air. I share more about this memory in a segment of Wildflower Wisdoms™ Living ME magazine called 💐Memories from The Wilds💐. Here, we gather stories of magical moments spent in nature—stories from all over the globe, in several languages. These cherished memories, like my father’s butterfly lesson, are like precious butterflies themselves—fluttering through our mind’s eye, bringing with them the nurturing energy of a bear's hug.
The cabbage butterfly brings a playful, creative energy, encouraging us to see ourselves as we truly are: vibrant and worthy, even when we’re struggling. In many ways, we are like complicated house plants, needing proper nourishment, rest, and a little sunlight in our lives. This butterfly reminds us to treat our bodies like the temples they are—taking in what nourishes us, both physically and spiritually.
This week, let’s channel the cabbage butterfly's energy of calm playfulness. If you find yourself in a crash or feeling low, try leaning into guided meditations, soft-spoken stories, or perhaps even art therapy. Remember, our butterfly tells us that feeling poorly does not make us less. We aren’t burdens; we are lights, bringing joy and support to those around us.
Let’s carry this fluttering, light-hearted energy with us. Dream a little, create a little, and most importantly, give yourself the grace to rest in this comforting space.
Wishing you all a week of gentle healing and uplifting moments.
With love and strength,
Kayla
Hello, beautiful souls of the wild,
This week, we're guided by the resilient and resourceful dandelion—a flower that has been both misunderstood and underestimated, much like many of us in the chronic illness community. Often seen as a mere weed, the dandelion stands tall and proud, offering nourishment and beauty to those who take a closer look.
Did you know the three phases of a dandelion represent the sun, moon, and stars? The bright yellow blooms mirror the sun's warmth, the fluffy white puffballs resemble the moon’s glow, and those dispersing seeds floating on the wind? They’re like stars dancing in the night sky, spreading wishes across the world. How poetic that something so simple is so profound.
While dandelions have been labeled as pesky weeds in some places, in other parts of the world, they are cherished as lovely additions to gardens—especially by pollinators! Their nectar is vital to bees emerging from a long winter, offering an essential source of early spring nourishment. And as the saying goes, “Weeds feed the bees that feed us!”
But the dandelion isn’t just for the bees; it’s for us too. Every part of this plant, from root to petal, is edible and rich in nutrients. Dandelion tea is praised by herbalists for its ability to support digestion and liver function—an ancient remedy celebrated across cultures, from Chinese to Egyptian medicine. I always say, "Never underestimate a weed with a purpose."
For our wild community, the dandelion symbolizes tenacity and adaptability. It thrives in unexpected places, cracks in sidewalks, and forgotten corners—places where other plants might struggle. In this way, the dandelion reminds us to bloom where we are planted, to be unyielding in the face of adversity, and to make the most of where we find ourselves.
This week, I invite you to think of yourself as a "MEG"—a My Energy Gardener. As a MEG, we honor our energy levels, planting seeds of joy and resilience in our lives, just as we might cultivate a mix of wildflowers, including the infamous dandelion. I’m a MEG and a Mo, nurturing my spirit alongside my garden, even if it’s just from my window on the days when I’m too tired to tend to it. I hope you’ll join me in embracing this idea and perhaps even share your own "MEG" stories.
And for those who want more, check out our "M.E. Garden of Delights" regular magazine feature where we dive deeper into how we can create our own gardens of energy and intention. Remember, *my lovelies*, like the dandelion, we are strong, versatile, and beautiful in every phase of our lives. So, let’s take a lesson from our sunny friend this week: nourish yourselves, spread your seeds of kindness, and let your spirit float freely like those little puffball wishes.
With wild love and wisdom,
Mystic Mo

Mystic Mo's Flower Reading:
The Teddy Bear Sunflower
Hello, beautiful souls of the wildflower collective!
This week, as we continue our journey with the gentle yet powerful energy of Betty Bear from Kayla’s reading, we turn our eyes to a special flower that mirrors her spirit—a flower that brings the same sense of warmth, comfort, and resilience.
Meet the Teddy Bear Sunflower, a fluffy pom-pom of golden joy that, like a friendly teddy bear, invites us to embrace softness and light wherever we are.
The Teddy Bear Sunflower isn’t just a delight for the eyes; it’s a symbol of joy and resilience. Just as Betty Bear encourages us to stay close to home while connecting with nature, this sunflower thrives in small spaces—on porches, balconies, or even windowsills. It’s a low-maintenance bloom that grows near us, reminding us that we don’t need to go far to feel the healing power of nature. We can plant seeds of joy right where we are and watch them bloom in our everyday lives.
Roots in Lore and Myth
The sunflower holds a special place in many cultures. In China, sunflowers are a symbol of long life, vitality, and good luck. They are believed to bring happiness to those who grow them, much like the protective and nurturing presence of a bear guiding her cubs. In Indigenous North American cultures, sunflowers are often seen as symbols of harvest and provision, offering both beauty and sustenance, much like the steady care we give ourselves and those we love.
The Teddy Bear Sunflower, with its fluffy golden blooms, stands as a beacon of warmth and endurance. It echoes the timeless story of nature’s gentle yet unyielding spirit, urging us to find joy even in the simplest of things, like the smile of a loved one or the sunlight filtering through our favorite window.
Radiant Light and Resilience
This week, we are encouraged to embrace the Teddy Bear Sunflower’s essence: to be resilient and soft at the same time. Just as these sunflowers are known to be incredibly tough despite their delicate appearance, we too can face our challenges with grace. Let’s remember that like these sunflowers, we are meant to bring brightness to the world, even when the wilds of life test us. And in moments where joy feels distant, we can still choose hope, courage, and the gentle self-compassion we need to endure and heal.
The sunflower is also the national flower of both Russia and Ukraine, countries with a deep connection to the sunflower’s radiant spirit. To those in our chronic community who hail from these cultures, may you be blessed with the sunflower’s radiant light of peaceful sunshine and joy.
In Russia, there is a saying: “Под лежачий камень вода не течет”*(Pod lezhachiy kamen’ voda ne techet) — "No water flows under a lying stone." May this remind us to stay open to life’s flows, even when resting.
In Ukraine, they say: “Сонце на всі чотири сторони світить” (Sontse na vsi chotyry storony svitit’) — "The sun shines on all four sides." May this remind us that light and hope reach us, no matter where we are.
As we hold these words close to our hearts, let us channel the energy of the Teddy Bear Sunflower this week, bringing warmth, resilience, and a touch of sunshine to our paths.
With sunlit love,
Mystic Mo

💙💠Cornflower Hope: A Message from Mystic Mo💠💙
August 25th - 31st🗓️💌
This week's flower reading from Mystic Mo brings us the blue cornflower, a symbol of hope that resonates deeply with our chronically wild community. Despite its delicate, fragile appearance, the blue cornflower is one of nature's hardiest flowers, thriving in various environments where other plants might struggle. This resilience makes it a perfect symbol for those of us navigating the wilds of chronic illness.
In Greek mythology, the blue cornflower is said to be a piece of heaven that fell to the earth, a gift from the gods to remind us of the beauty and hope that exist beyond our daily struggles. The striking blue petals, resembling the clear sky, were believed to be fragments of the heavens, offering a glimpse of divine peace and a promise of better things to come.
Let this resilient flower be a reminder of the hope we carry within us.
And So It Is😉🪄✨

What an honor it is to share with you the guidance that comes from the natural spirit of resilience that lives inside each of us. Like many in the chronic illness community, I draw strength from quiet times with my fur babies—my tuxedo kitten and robust tabby, who shower me with love and affection.
It's in these moments of contented silence that I connect with the deeper wisdom of simply being, and nature's guides show me the way. This week, it was the image of a white fox jumping into a pile of snow that answered my request: "What wisdom can I share with our global community this week?"
The first thing that stood out was his color, snow-white with the most adventurous black eyes. I decided to name him Alfred—a name that means "wise counsel."
Alfred blends seamlessly into his snowy surroundings, suggesting the importance of blending into our surroundings when necessary. But this isn’t about hiding who we are; it’s about finding comfort in being our authentic selves.
Alfred's appearance as a fox indicates that nature's healing wisdom encourages us to embrace clever solutions we may have once ignored because we couldn’t see a way forward. Yet his white fur, surrounded by the white snow into which he leaps playfully, signals that a path aligned with our true nature is now available to us. This sense of security allows us to play, explore, and express ourselves freely.
This week may also bring a desire to experiment with how we present ourselves—whether through a change in appearance, a new hobby, or a fresh perspective. These small changes can bring joy and a sense of renewal.
Alfred’s presence also speaks to the idea of providing—not just in a financial or physical sense, but by creating a nourishing emotional environment. We can offer support to ourselves and others by being present, listening, and connecting, even if it’s through technology.
For those of us who might not leave home often, this week invites us to try something new within our familiar spaces—perhaps tending to a garden, rearranging a room, or virtually visiting a new place.
Alfred hints at the possibility of stepping outside our routine, whether that means a literal journey or simply trying something different within our current environment. This week is about exploration, both inward and outward, and embracing the potential to break free from routines or habits that no longer serve us.
To conclude the message from nature, I also select cards from a nature-inspired deck. This week, the card I pulled was of the indigo milk cap mushroom. It reinforces the idea of "showing your true colors"—the idea that being yourself is enough.
With the freedom of the playful white fox and the true colors of our blues and our joys, let's take this week to explore, connect, and fill our emotional cups.
Wishing you a week of discovery and self-expression.
With love,
Kayla

"The Cabbage Butterfly"
story by Kayla Doyle
edited by Monique Susanna Simón
When I was little, my father used to take me and my family on adventures into the wilds of our hometown. He loved nature, and he passed that love down to me, teaching me the names of plants as we explored, flipping over rocks in search of snakes. I’m pretty sure there weren’t many snakes where I grew up, but it was a fabulous game. It got us all outdoors, embracing the fresh air and the magic of discovery.
One of the first butterflies I ever learned to name was the cabbage butterfly. I can still picture them gliding through the air, their wings moving like silk, gently catching the light. Their soft white wings with hints of yellow and green felt like a little touch of magic, a fluttering symbol of calm and purity.
I remember that sense of play and wonder that my father nurtured in me. It was a way to get us all into nature and, unknowingly, to teach us to be in the moment. The cabbage butterflies became our gentle guides. As they danced around us, they seemed to remind us to let go, to daydream, and to find joy in simplicity.
In moments when we are feeling low or doubting ourselves—when the world seems to weigh heavy on our shoulders—remembering these small, fluttering guides can bring a little lightness back into our hearts. They remind us that we aren’t a burden. Just as the cabbage butterfly brings a sense of creativity, healing, and pure joy, we too bring these qualities to those we love, even when we feel our energy is spent.
So whenever I see a cabbage butterfly. It reminds me to allow myself to play, to dream, and to believe that even in our stillness, we have so much to offer. I release my worries and rest in the knowing that there’s beauty in simply being.
✨🌼Mystic Mo’s Flower Wisdom Reading: Yellow Jewelweed✨🌼
Hello Wildflower Friends,
This week, yellow jewelweed graces our garden, bringing with it a message of quiet strength and wisdom. It may not be the flashiest bloom, but it thrives in the shade, patiently doing its work in the background, offering shelter and healing to pollinators, people, and the air itself. That’s the beauty of this wildflower—it’s consistent, resilient, and quietly essential.
Jewelweed’s sunny yellow is a color tied to wisdom in Feng Shui, and with that wisdom comes a lesson: when life’s irritants try to derail you, it’s patience and consistent action that keeps them at bay. Think of jewelweed as nature’s anti-poison ivy. Like this humble flower, we can soothe ourselves from contact with life's “poison ivy”—those tricky situations or folks who try to rub us the wrong way. When we’re grounded in steady self-care, planning, and follow-through, these irritants have less power to disrupt our peace.
And there’s another hidden gem in jewelweed’s “touch-me-not” effect. Sometimes--like a jewelweed closing up--it’s wise to take a step back, protect your energy, and focus on what nourishes you. It’s okay to close your petals when needed, to protect yourself from harm, and to avoid spreading yourself too thin. Not every opportunity or person deserves your full bloom; sometimes, a little retreat is the best way to come back stronger.
So, let yellow jewelweed remind you this week to carry on with patience and purpose, to fortify yourself against life’s little irritants, and to savor the quiet power of resilience.

With wild love and wisdom,
Mystic Mo

Guidance for the Week Ahead:
Brown Mama Bear
Hello to my chronically amazing collective,
I hope you all felt the embrace of whale energy guiding us through last week. This week, we are graced with the powerful presence of the bear, a nurturing spirit who has been speaking to me since early last week.
As I was preparing and making plans, I felt a strong nudge from her—a reminder that sometimes our carefully laid plans are not what we need. I’m grateful for her guidance, showing me that our energies don’t always have to align with what we think should happen. This week's bear wisdom invites us all to embrace flexibility and flow.
Doing these readings for us all helps me on my journey. Knowing we are working with these same energies, wherever we are, brings a sense of connection and mutual growth. The more we engage with these energies, the more we discover our unique gifts.
So, let’s meet our bear spirit, who I've decided to name Betty Bear.
The first thing that comes to mind with Betty Bear is her fur—thick, warm, and inviting, like a brown teddy bear. I imagine all of us wanting to curl up with a big, comforting teddy bear when times are tough. This week, she reminds us that people around us—whether online or in our immediate space—might need comfort. It’s like how my door is always open for those in need; sometimes, we need to offer that kind of warmth and care. Whether we are giving comfort or receiving it, these moments can bring a deep sense of connection and healing to everyone involved.
Next, Betty Bear shows us the importance of hibernation—of taking time to truly rest. Just as she settles into her den without worry, we’re called to create warm, restful spaces at home. It’s okay to pause and allow ourselves to recharge, without the weight of “should(s)” or “must(s).”
But Betty Bear is not all about staying in. She also encourages us to connect with nature, even in small, accessible ways. Maybe it’s just sitting on a patch of grass in a garden or a park close to home, like when I visited a friend and listened to the crickets among the poppies and dandelions. This week, consider bringing nature to you if you can’t venture far. Open a window, tend to a houseplant, or watch some soothing nature videos. The key is to stay close to your own den while still feeling connected to the wilderness around us.
I’m also being shown Betty Bear with her cubs, which takes us to nurturing, caring, and unconditional love. Whether it’s through a kind word, a shared moment of laughter, or simply being present, these acts of love ripple out like waves. And for those of us who love our stuffed bears or have fond memories of them, perhaps consider holding onto that cozy, childhood comfort as a symbol of self-love.
Betty Bear's energy also brings the earthy colors of autumn leaves, scattered across a forest floor. She urges us to prepare for the colder months ahead—maybe it’s time for a new pair of fluffy pajamas or a warm drink that brings you joy.
And speaking of joy, Betty Bear suggests that something new will catch our eye this week. It could be a hobby, a show, or rediscovering an old talent that brings you delight. Keep your heart open to it.
Finally, a little nudge toward Mystic Mo's flower wisdom: she’s got a wonderful reading coming up that ties perfectly with our bear spirit. Stay tuned for that connection between animal and plant energy, as we continue to grow together.
Wishing you all a week filled with warmth, rest, and the cozy spirit of Betty Bear.
With love and bear hugs,
Kayla x
